What Next for Chelsea and Conte?
After a first defeat with Burnley, a second with Arsenal and a third with Crystal Palace, which is currently at the bottom of the table this league season, Chelsea had lot to prove on the defensive side.
Last season, it was fantastic, the passion was there among the coach and the players. They ended up with the Premier League and qualification to the Champions League again. After the Mourinho era, which ended up with the devastating season, losing the UCL spot and sacking of the blues fans' "The Special One", a single hope was how to bring a new care taker who can stay for longer period. Guus Hiddink was a savior but there was still a black cloud on the horizon which clearly wants an answer for "Who will be the Chelsea's Next Boss?"
Antonio Conte was the rumor and so he came. A great signing, N'golo Kante who has played a great role in improving Chelsea's midfield and defense. But besides all those players who came in, Chelsea lost many of those versatile and young talents in the Mourinho Era. I am here not being critical to Mourinho as he is still one of the best manager Chelsea could ever had. But the trend he had on the transfer window cannot be justified till now with the selling of Romelu Lukaku, Daniel Sturridge, Juan Mata and Kevin De Bryune.
For the present Chelsea, Bakayako, Rudiger, Morata and Drinkwater has been a good signing but still need some impressive display to stick to the top in their game. Chelsea still lack the depth in defense, midfield and attack to be considered as one of the favorites for this season. A win at Athletico Madrid in UCL made some Chelsea fans believe that Chelsea are impressive even with lack of some good players but with an injury on Kante, a sink hole was seen in the later matches with Watford, Everton and Borunemouth. The biggest defeat for this season became a recent match with AS Roma where they lost 3-0 and a terrific blunder in their defensive and midfield line. We saw the great deprivation of defensive midfielder like Nemanja Matic most recently who has been sold to one of the EPL rival, Manchester United with the absence of Kante in line ups. Definitely, the concern here is a clash with Manchester United on November 5, 2017 where they will be facing with the team that has perfect display in UCL this season and is having a real good attacking display in EPL as well. Can Conte find a proper line ups and bring that winning accord among the Blues to bring us back into the game? Does he has a solution for Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matic who are in their excellent form and bring back Chelsea closer to Manchester clubs? Lets see!!! Go Blues..
